Stele LXXII

Winter

Concrete, Fiber Optics, Electronics,
Polyurethane over Aluminum Base
86" x 14" x 12"

The carving on this sculpture was suggested by the carving seen on a medieval cathedral in Germany. The fiber optic light that seems to swallow the surface transforms the sculpture to a night scape when the thorny vine becomes a milky way traveling through the center of the sculpture. The paintings of Charles Burchfield were of some influence with this group of sculptures.
