Stele XCIV

Buddha’s Seat Series

Concrete, Fiber Optics, Electronics,
Polyurethane over Stainless Steel Base
86" x 14" x 12"

A texture that was suggested by an ancient Mayan stele that had eroded under the growth of vines marks the surface of this sculpture. Its fiber optic light slowly changes over time to create geometric arrangements that continuously dissolve and reform in new combinations.

The animation here shows only a few seconds of the light program that takes days to repeat. See Statement-Sculpture for more information about this series.
